New York workers' compensation board meeting for improvement
The New York state Workers' Compensation Board is meeting to help improve the overall workers' compensation system in the state. The goal of the meetings is to help provide better service for employees working in New York.
The Workers' Compensation Board is trying to improve the way in which it meets the needs of employees in the state. Injured workers are being invited to discuss their thoughts on the state plan and how it can be improved. There will be three sessions held in total across the state. One of the bigger voices expected to be heard in the meetings is workers' compensation claims from immigrant workers. The meetings will discuss their concerns regarding equal access to rights.
Injured workers are put in a difficult position when they get hurt on the job. They could suffer a back injury, which would put them out of work and leaving them unable to earn a living and support their family. Workers' compensation benefits may allow an injured worker to collect benefits based on their condition. This could include temporary total disability if they are completely out of work. Temporary partial disability benefits could also help if they can only do part of their job.
Employees need to prove they were injured on the job to be eligible for benefits in most cases. They could also be a victim of unsafe working conditions. Workers' compensation benefits might help injured workers recover and get back to their job, without doing long-term harm to their quality of life.
